Wendie Purtell finally became a dog person after the arrival of her family’s first English Setter named Patch. She was constantly entertained by Patch’s sense of humor and lack of understanding of the English language. This evolved into a series of Christmas cards depicting Patch as an aloof observer/participant in the Yuletide season. As time went on, other English Setters arrived on the scene, offering endless fodder for her artwork, and several more themes for her cards.
Wendie graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and worked as a graphic design artist for a well-known national retailer. After years of prodding by family and friends, she launched her studio in Michigan, constantly inspired by her love of the outdoors, her dogs, fly fishing, and an occasional cat or two.
All images are available as notecards, 8×10, and 5×7 prints, matted and hand-signed by Wendie.
Wendie also does commissions for pet owners and others. Check out the Commissions page for more information.
